Do Muscle Relaxers Make You Last Longer in Bed?

Muscle relaxants are prescription drugs used to treat muscle cramps of different types. Like any other medicine, muscle relaxers do have a wide range of side effects. But do muscle relaxers make you last longer in bed?

Short answer: No.

Muscle relaxers don’t make you last longer in bed and don’t interfere with your sexual performance at all. In fact, they don’t even have any such side effects that they delay ejaculation. This is backed by science so it’s safe to say that muscle relaxers don’t make you last longer in bed.

What is a Muscle Relaxer?

Muscle relaxer or muscle relaxant belongs to a drug category used to relax muscles. It is used to treat muscle cramps that include sudden and continuous muscle pain. Muscle relaxers include both prescription and over-the-counter drugs.

A muscle relaxant works by changing your body’s response to muscle pain by altering the nervous system. It acts as a neuromuscular blocker where it blocks several functions and nerves to reduce pain and relax muscles.

If you have ever used a muscle relaxer, you will know how calming effect it has and that’s because the signals from your central nervous system to muscles are partly blocked.

Side Effects

Muscle relaxers aren’t without side effects as they interact with your nervous system so you might feel the following side effects:

  • Dizziness
  • Irritation
  • Nervousness
  • Dry mouth
  • Confusion
  • Lethargy
  • Sedation
  • Nausea.

Do Muscle Relaxers Make You Last Longer in Bed?

Muscle relaxers do not make you last longer in bed.

Muscle relaxants aren’t meant for premature ejaculation (PE), and they don’t have any known impact on ejaculation or sexual functioning. They don’t have any side effects that would make you last longer in bed like other prescription medicines such as tamsulosin, Adderall, Xanax, and Klonopin which are, sometimes, used as off-label drugs as muscle relaxants.

Both types of muscle relaxants (antispasmodics, used to treat muscle spasms and antispastics, used to cure muscle spasticity) don’t have any impact on sexual performance and lead to any type of sexual dysfunction.

Does Flexeril Make You Last Longer in Bed?

No, Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) does not make you last longer in bed. It is used to treat muscle spasms and has no side effects that would make you last longer in bed or negatively impact ejaculation.

There is one study where a single case of painful ejaculation was reported after the use of cyclobenzaprine. A 55-year-old man who was using Flexeril reported painful ejaculation and sexual dysfunction. This is because it is structurally similar to antidepressants and all the antidepressants have a side effect that they delay orgasm.

Delayed ejaculation was not reported in any study as a side effect of Flexeril, so it does not make you last longer in bed.

What Makes You Last Longer in Bed?

If you want to last longer in bed or cure premature ejaculation, there are a lot of better ways to do it:

1. Numbing Products

Numbing products (delay products or desensitizing products) are among the best ways to delay ejaculation. You have to apply these products topically to your penis which reduces its sensitivity and helps you last longer in bed. Numbing products include sprays, wipes, condoms, oils, creams, and gels.

The best thing about delay products for premature ejaculation is that these are approved by the FDA as long as they are made from lidocaine or benzocaine. These are the local anesthetics approved for use in male delay sprays and act as numbing agents.

Apply the product on your penis 5 to 15 minutes before sexual intercourse and you can delay ejaculation significantly with full control.

Here are the top numbing products to last longer in bed:

  1. VigRX Delay Spray – contains benzocaine
  2. Durex Performax Intense delay condoms – contains benzocaine
  3. VigRX wipes – made from herbs and plant extracts
  4. Doc Johnson Power Plus Delay Cream – contains benzocaine.

2. Prescription Medicines

Unfortunately, there is no prescription medicine approved by the FDA for premature ejaculation. Doctors use off-label medicines which mostly include antidepressants such as paroxetine. Antidepressants that belong to the drug category selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor have a scientifically proven side effect that they delay ejaculation.

If you want to last longer in bed to enjoy better sex but you don’t suffer from premature ejaculation (see here how to know if you are suffering from premature ejaculation), your doctor might never prescribe an antidepressant or any other medication.

The only way you will get a prescription medicine from a medical expert to delay ejaculation is when you are actually suffering from premature ejaculation.

3. Over-the-Counter Supplements

Dietary supplements and herbal tablets work best for you if you want to spice up your bedroom life by delaying ejaculation while you aren’t suffering from PE. OTC supplements are made from FDA approved ingredients and work great.

Herbal OTC pills for premature ejaculation don’t have any side effects and are generally safe to use as long as you follow directions from the manufacturer. Tablets need time and require consistency. You can’t expect instant results with supplements as you get with numbing products.

We strongly recommend checking out ProSolution Plus as it is made from herbs and is clinically tested to increase ejaculation timing by 64%

4. Foods and Herbs

Do you need a natural, safe way to delay ejaculation? You should consider adding certain foods and herbs to your diet.

There are several foods that are scientifically proven to treat premature ejaculation and help men delay orgasms. The best thing about using foods to last longer in bed is that they have absolutely no side effects and won’t cost you a single penny. You just need to tweak your diet plan – and that’s it.

The downside?

You need to be consistent like crazy. You can’t expect nutrients to show results quickly. You will see results not in weeks, but in months. It is more of a lifestyle change than a temporary way to eat more of some fruits and vegetables.

5. Behavioral Techniques

I am a fan of behavioral techniques when it comes to lasting longer in bed.

Why?

Because these methods work exceptionally well, are free, and don’t have any side effects.

Behavioral techniques include all the methods to delay ejaculation that involve a change in your behavior. For example, changing sex posture during sexual intercourse to last longer is a common way to buy time and last longer. The squeeze technique is another amazing way to delay orgasm as long as you want (of course, it needs practice).

Here is a list of the best behavioral techniques to take full control over ejaculation and increase your timing in bed:

  1. Squeeze technique
  2. Pelvic floor exercise
  3. Natural ways to hold back your ejaculation.

Muscle Relaxers Don’t Delay Ejaculation

Yes, muscle relaxants don’t have any role to play in ejaculation duration. These aren’t meant to delay climax. If you are using muscle relaxers, use them with ease without any fear of having a sexual dysfunction.

If you want to last longer in bed to enjoy sexual intercourse, use desensitizing products, OTC supplements, and other methods as discussed above.
